We were once again kindly asked to take part in the 6 A Side Charity Football Tournament along with a number of other local businesses which was held at Ruston Sports this year Our team was very keen to go one step further than last year where we came away with the runners up trophy, unfortunately it was not to be this year with us being beaten in the semi - finals. A very enjoyable day of football was had by all, thanks to all who took time out of their weekend to take part. Early indications are that just over £600 each was raised for the Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance, and Macmillan Cancer Support, two extremely worthwhile charities.
Special thanks to Reece for not only providing the kit on the day, but also the task of cleaning it afterwards, and also to Sam for keeping the squad fed and watered throughout the day.
Lincoln Green Community Fund - The group which is based at the Lincoln Green Public House in North Hykeham was formed around 12 years ago with an aim to help local people and hold community events. This year sees additions to the committee being Sandra Purdy, who is the newly appointed chair ladyand Kate Tomlinson working alongside Laura Tomlinson and Becky, Craig and Colin from the Lincoln Green Public House.
The support given helped us raise £3500 in 2015/16 and we are already on £2900 for 2016/2017. The work we do for the community has recently been recognised and we have been awarded the mayor of Hykeham's community shield for 2017.
All the money is raised by a voluntary committee and is donated to people and causes within the Hykeham area that need our support. As an example we have purchased a community defibrillator which was kindly installed by M Gladwin Electrical, paid for residents of Beckside care home to have a Christmas meal, donated to a single mother of three boys who became paralysed in a car accident, supported families with travel costs to see loved ones in hospital, and much much more.
Our new logo and tag line of 'Hykeham's Helping Hand' is there to help us get the message across, however we are fully aware this would not be possible without the support of many local businesses and individuals for which we are most grateful.
We recently held our first Charaoke night along with an auction and the profit on the night was over £400 – a fabulous achievement.
We held an Easter raffle raising over £185 for the charity and work is now underway planning the Fun Day to be held on 16th September 2017 – last year was a huge success with over 500 people attending and we are aiming high again for this year. If you can help in any way, or know of any needy causes please get in touch.
M Gladwin Electrical attended a team activity day at Ancaster Leisure, Belton Woods on Saturday 22nd April.
The day consisted of Quad Biking, Pistol Shooting and Go Karting. The Pistol Shooting was dominated by the one of the 'Gainsborough Massive', Josh Kent, whereby the Go Karting was led from start to finish by our own David Coulthard AKA Gaz Medlam. The day was a huge success and brought the team together.
Many thanks to Ancaster Leisure for organising the day.
